Lome Vineyard sits on an elevated site four hundred metres above sea level, in the foothills of Mount Alexander, with panoramic views and ancient granitic soils of loam, sand and clay.
We cultivate beneath the vines to control weeds and grasses, using no herbicides, pesticides or insecticides. Cover crops support soil health, and sheep graze among the vines. Nature is allowed to run its course.
Our grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness and fermented with natural yeasts, guided by a light-touch approach.
An Australian vignette of France’s Rhône Valley, we produce Shiraz, Gamay, Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier.
Lome is the vision of an ex-solicitor seeking an escape from the confines of the office and technology, embracing instead the freedom of the outdoors and the beauty of the seasons – accepting the challenges of the weather while relishing the chance to farm and grow things.
